Don't Defund Macedon Library in New York

The Town Board in Macedon, NY is proposing to cut the requested allocation for the library funding by half.

The Town Board in Macedon, NY is proposing to cut the requested allocation for the library funding by half. Anyone who cares about literacy, education for children, support for entrepreneurs, and a vibrant community should send an email today to fight against these cuts.

If these budget cuts are approved, then many residents will be denied access to programming that many of our community’s residents depend on to get ahead. Programs like the entrepreneur workshop series in collaboration with SCORE has helped start a number of small businesses get started. Children in our community come to learn and explore in our discovery room. And because the library may also have to cut hours, after already cutting Sunday hours and losing staff members, there won’t be as many available open hours or services available to our residents, denying many of them access to a service that they may depend on.

After signing this petition and sending an email, we are asking residents to attend a meeting on November 9 at 7:30 pm at the Town Complex, 32 Main Street Where the Town of Macedon will hold a hearing to discuss this proposed budget. The library has been running a deficit budget for several years due to these cuts and we can’t let them continue.
