Solutions for Pandemic Learning
Challenges this past year in the form of unfinished learning due to the pandemic have prompted state Education departments to find new ways for students to access critical resources they need to continue their education. Thanks to federal funds made available through Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief, the Delaware Department of Education was able to provide schools and 144,000 students with access to educational and popular digital books using OverDrive’s Sora app.
Titles within these sets feature high-quality curriculum titles that were adopted by Delaware school districts and charters. Some of these include:
- Llama Llama Time to Share
- The Snowy Day
- The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
- Esperanza Rising
- The Lightning Thief
- Patient Zero
- The Omnivore’s Dilemma
Books for pleasure reading also made the collections that students could browse. These also featured eBooks and eAudiobooks in other languages, translated books, and books from native speakers. A few of the options to encourage reading for fun include:
- Smile
- The Crossover
- Miles Morales
- New Kid
- The Baby-Sitters Club series
- Pete the Cat series
- One of Us Is Lying
- I Survived series
- A Scarf for Keiko
- Concrete Rose
Students will be able to borrow and read any books through the app no matter where they are. This means they will have access to these digital learning tools at school, at home, or any other place. This content is filtered to only include age-appropriate titles. Want to get started today?
