Kanopy is now available to Delaware Libraries’ patrons!

LAUREL, Del. Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) joined Dr. Annie Norman, Delaware State Librarian, community partners, and local elected officials at the Laurel Library in Laurel, DE to announce $275,000 in Community Project Funding for Delaware Libraries. 

There is evidence, in the form of a hand written receipt for dues, that the earliest Wilmington Library was first incorporated in 1754.

The University of Delaware Library has been Congressionally designated as a depository library in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) since June 30, 1897. 

Since the 1970s, Harrington Public Library has operated out of makeshift facilities, including a trailer and an old funeral home.

Thanks to American Rescue Plan Act bucks, the Selbyville Public Library will be able to build a new library and move out of the stately home in which it’s now housed.

New Castle County Libraries will get $20,000 through a federal grant to create programming around a memoir about immigration, assimilation and culture.

Energize Delaware is giving grants to public libraries in the state so they can go solar.

Delaware is in the midst of a broadband expansion, but the cost of service could still be a barrier for families and individuals. There is also the matter of knowing how to use the Internet once you are connected.

Delaware Libraries have set up a pen pal program with Wellington City Libraries in New Zealand – 9,000 miles away where the seasons are reversed and time is 17 hours ahead!
